Speeding past the trees In the dead of night No one else sees A creature that inspires fright I hear the beautiful cry I look around to see As it runs right by Flying right past me I hear another cry Farther, though, this time In the corner of my eye I see a creature so sublime Wolves are all around me Hiding from my sight Darting behind each tree Using the shadows of night Never a creature have I seen That can match their dulcet song Never a creature has their been That can compete with them for long

In his pack's ears
Forever to remind
In their hearts
For a heartless hunter
Rose his gun that day
And his victim was
This wolf his pack
Sings about everyday
The man took his body away
The pack howls
As one
In sorrow
In pain
They shall forever
Remember the wolf
That fell that
One fateful winter day.

The Gray Wolf
Gray wolves are such beautiful creaturesMe,
as Farley Mowat.
I begin my journey.
My stuff packed and are so misunderstood.
So many people hate them and would kill them if they could.
They are actually afraid of people and just want
ready to be leftgo.
Walking,
the forrest alone.
They are presently endangered species and their future is unknown.
Most of the
Discovering,
new human lives.
I hear,
the animals they hunt are injured or weak.
Deer and elk are what many of them seek.
Sometimes they howl to locate their pack.
They find each other when another howls back.
Their fur can make them withstand the harshest of the weather.
They do not like to lie alone and tend to stay together.
They try to avoid humans as much as they possibly can.
They mean no harm and are endangered because of man.
They live in the wild and deservewilderness.
My fears,
begin to run free.
People need to understand them better and just let them be.
